Topics and History

The series has been published by Università degli Studi di Trento since 2020. It collects reflections, experiences, and documents on the different roles that images assume as their use expands in the contemporary world.

The notebooks aim to inform and stimulate insights into the plurality of directions in figurative research, including the digital sphere, and to foreground the usefulness of an updated understanding of theoretical studies and practical applications. They are a meeting place for knowledge and multiple activities to be put back into circulation in a flexible and dynamic way, through online publishing products that serve as real-time scientific tools for discussion and the growth of ideas.

The notebooks include research reports, seminar/workshop proceedings, exhibition catalogs, qualified teaching materials, and more. They are conceived for a heterogeneous and non-specialist audience with diverse backgrounds and needs, and are published in one of the admitted languages (Italian, French, Spanish, German, or English) with a summary in English (or in Italian, equal to 5-10% of the entire volume).

The digital and open-access format is ‘open’ in several senses: content is not necessarily complete, the updating process is streamlined, and publication costs are minimal.

 

THE SECTIONS

  Proceedings. This section publishes abstracts and/or contributions collected for study days, scientific events, conferences and higher education activities.

  Catalogues. This section publishes collections of individual or team works, materials of exhibitions, results of workshops and cultural activities as well as various iconographic repertoires.

  Research. This section publishes the results, including intermediate ones, of theoretical and experimental study activities, as well as reports of national and international funded projects.

  Tools. This section publishes documents on operating methods and applied procedures, as well as qualified teaching aids and user manuals.
