About the Journal

Comparative Law and Language (CLL) is an academic journal which aims to provide a platform for scholars to enhance interest and scientific debate on the relationship between law and language, in and within different national and supranational legal systems from a comparative perspective. Because of the journal's interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature, contributions of jurists, linguists and scholars of any other relevant field of social sciences are welcome.

In a wider perspective, the object of analysis is also the legal phenomenon as such, when preceptive “linguistic” formulations imply legal translation, inter-linguistic circulation of models and government of multilingual legal systems. We invite contributions applying micro and macro comparison analyses, filtered through the specific perspective of language and reflecting on the linguistic nature of legal phenomena and on how language influences and determines the societal legal framework.

The journal covers a broad and stimulating field, observing how the different aspects of the legal phenomenon are denominated in various languages and uncovering the reasons and consequences of linguistic diversity. Thus, it offers an original and novel contribution to contacts between the field of law and that of linguistics.

The journal is edited by Trento University and publishes two Issues per year.
