Genovesi as a Source for Rosmini’s Economic Reflections

Abstract

This paper inquires the interpretation of Genovesi’s thought made by Rosmini. Rosmini’s interpretation of the Neapolitan economist, mediated by the sensism of Gioia and Romagnosi, distanced him from Genovesi. This prevented Rosmini to recognize the similarity between his own ideas and Genovesi’s view of civil economy. The aim is to reduce the gap between Rosmini and the tradition of civil economy and to raise new questions about Rosmini’s economic thought.
