The article focuses its attention on the link between Antonio Rosmini and the issue of the Ecclesia semper reformanda. It shows that, for the abbot of Rovereto, the understanding of the category of “reform” calls into question the idea of process and of an historical insight into the process. It is necessary to seize the deep roots of the facts of the history of the Church, including the Reformation, through a long term reflection interpreting the call of Providence to the Church as an appeal towards the ‘perpetual reform of itself’.
