This article offers a discussion and a transcription of the short writing on the so-called Platonic number (Republic, 546b-d) written by the Veronese physician Giuseppe Valdagni at the time of his affiliation with the Accademia degli Occulti in Brescia. Highlighting Valdagni’s interest in mathematics, and revealing his participation to the Accademia Veneziana, the article discusses the engagement of Valdagni with the Platonic text from different perspectives, both philological and philosophical.
