In this contribution, an attempt is made to briefly illustrate some salient points of Gentile's speculative itinerary, indicating the reasons, circumstances and criticalities of the theoretical passage from the concept of 'nature' to that of 'sentiment'. Proposing the two concepts as expressions of the same need, an attempt is made to show how they stand, in Gentile philosophy, at the heart of the problem of 'idealism' and 'transcendence'.
