Call for Editors 2026–2027 (1st Semester – September 2026)
The Trento Student Law Review is inviting applications for the positions of Associate Editor, Visiting Editor and Collaborator on its editorial team. The team will continue the Review’s tradition of promoting rigorous publishing standards and attracting high-quality research.

About the Review
The Trento Student Law Review is an international, peer-reviewed, open access, online-only law journal, entirely student-run and student-edited, established in 2017 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Trento. The Review publishes issues biannually, with articles in English and Italian. All manuscripts undergo preliminary scientific scrutiny followed by double-blind peer review. The Editorial Board consists of Managing, Associate and Visiting Editors selected through a dedicated call each semester. An Advisory Board cooperates with the Editorial Team.
What do editors do?
- Preliminary screening: evaluating assigned articles in dialogue with the Managing Editors to determine whether a manuscript is ready for external review;
- Substantive editing: critically reading and annotating texts accepted for publication, suggesting structural and conceptual improvements as well as targeted changes to syntax, style and expression;
- Copy-editing: correcting grammar, spelling and punctuation, conducting fact-checking and anti-plagiarism activities, and bringing footnotes into line with the Review’s citation code while checking the accuracy and adequacy of the sources cited.
Members of the Editorial Board are also members of the Trento Student Law Review Association, which promotes the journal and encourages submissions from students, alumni, scholars and practitioners. A dedicated team recruits and liaises with peer reviewers.

Eligibility
University of Trento Law students in years two to four, and second-year CEILS students with Italian at B2 or above, are eligible for Associate Editor. Fifth/final-year Law students or those beyond, and third/final-year CEILS students or those beyond, may be considered for Collaborator. Second-year CEILS candidates below B2 may be considered for Visiting Editor. First-year Global Law Making (GLaM) students are eligible for Associate Editor; second/final-year GLaM students or those beyond may be considered for Collaborator. JD/LLB/LLM and Erasmus candidates from foreign universities are eligible for Visiting Editor. Collaborator positions are assigned on the basis of particular merits or abilities evaluated by the selection panel.
The ideal candidate has:
- a very good knowledge of English (B2–C2 CEFR);
- at least one previous team-working experience;
- a good knowledge of the Trento Student Law Review (find out more on our official website);
- an interest in working in an international environment;
- the willingness to be part of an association;
- a strong motivation.
The working language of the Trento Student Law Review is Italian, which Associate Editors use in their day-to-day written and oral exchanges. English is used for communications and activities involving non-Italian-speaking Collaborators and Visiting Editors.
Selection process
To join the Editorial Board, candidates must take part in a selection process designed to help us understand how each person could best contribute to the Review.
- Complete the application form. We ask candidates a few questions about their motivation and the contribution they could make to the Trento Student Law Review, taking account of their CV and past experience;
- Upload a Curriculum vitae/Resume when completing the form. The CV helps us understand the skills developed through previous experience and activities and provides a concise picture of the candidate’s profile;
- The interview allows us to meet candidates and discuss their ambitions and aptitudes. Candidates may be asked to translate a short passage of legal writing from Italian into English or from English into Italian.
Perks
Each editor’s name and affiliation will be listed on the Review’s website. Editorial work offers valuable international academic and research experience and is a strong extracurricular qualification.
Letters confirming editorial collaboration with the TSLR will be provided.
Editors receive training through workshops, practical exercises and supervised participation in the review and editing processes. They may also join teams organizing national and international events and team-building activities.
