This paper aims to compare the interpretation, given by Lévinas, of the husserlian passive synthesis with Rosmini’s theory of space and time. The passivity and otherness of the husserlian Urimpression is placed by Rosmini in a more metaphysical context, i.e. that of the pure space. Furthermore, I maintain that one can find a sort of internal consciousness of time in Rosmini’s framework, which seems to be grounded in the sentient principle and the retentional capacity of the soul.
