GUIDELINES

The scientific journal XY is a biannual, digital publication that accepts illustrated essays written in English and a second language of the author's choice among Italian, Spanish, French, and German. The publication of an essay is subject to an evaluation process by two anonymous external reviewers selected for their specific expertise (Double-Blind Peer Review).

The submission process consists of two consecutive phases.

Phase One – Submission of the Full Paper. Authors must submit their full paper in one of the journal's accepted languages: Italian, French, Spanish, German, or English. Submission must be made exclusively through the online procedure of this OJS platform, following registration on the website. The journal only accepts articles that comply with the editorial standards; the formal review precedes the scientific one, and failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the rejection of the proposal. Articles that pass the formal check are submitted for anonymous review by two experts (Double-Blind Peer Review).

Phase Two – Submission of the Final Paper. This step is subject to a positive outcome of the review process and the feedback received. The final paper, corrected and integrated based on the reviewers' evaluations, must be submitted in English and in one of the other accepted languages (Italian, French, Spanish, or German) via the online procedure. At this stage, the biographical note for each author must also be submitted by filling in the specific form, together with the signed licence to publish guaranteeing ownership of the intellectual property of the contribution.

Both in the first phase (submission of the full paper) and in the second phase (submission of the final paper), all materials (text with abstract and keywords, bibliography, images, and captions) must be delivered in full compliance with the editorial templates available on this page.  

Note: the two phases are distinct and consecutive for submissions to the first half-year issue; the two phases are combined for submissions to the second half-year issue, which is linked to the annual Non-Aligned Points call. For the latter, the simultaneous submission of all materials is required, both in English and in the other chosen language from those accepted by the journal.

 

EDITORIAL TEMPLATES

Templates for the Full Paper - XY_FullPaperEN.doc | XY_FullPaperIT.doc (and corresponding accepted languages)

A single file for each language, containing: title and any subtitle (max. 100 characters including spaces), author name(s), abstract (max. 2,000 characters including spaces), keywords (max. 3, preferably different from those in the title), text including any footnotes (from 15,000 to 30,000 characters including spaces, with footnotes not exceeding 15% of the total character count). The two files must be renamed according to the following syntax:

  • SurnameName_FullPaperEN.doc (for the English text)
  • SurnameName_FullPaperIT.doc / _FullPaperES.doc / _FullPaperFR.doc / etc. (for the other language)

Template for the References - XY_References.doc

A single file containing all bibliographic references in the language of the specific edition used (see editorial guidelines), listed alphabetically by author. The file must be renamed according to the syntax: SurnameName_References.doc.

Templates for Captions - XY_CaptionsEN.doc | XY_CaptionsIT.doc (and corresponding accepted languages)

A single file for each language, containing the captions (max. 300 characters each, including spaces) which must include the relevant credits and be numbered progressively, as must the corresponding images (from 8 to 15, approximately one every 2,000 characters; .jpg format, 300 dpi on a 15 cm base). The two files must be renamed according to the following syntax:

  • SurnameName_CaptionsEN.doc (for English)
  • SurnameName_CaptionsIT.doc / _CaptionsES.doc / _CaptionsFR.doc / etc. (for the other language).

Note. In the case of multiple authors, use the surname and first name of the principal author.
