The essay reconstructs the history of the magazine «Altri termini», founded in Naples in 1972 and active for about twenty years. It focuses especially on its poetic research and on the articles regarding the theory of literature. Through a close reading of single contributions, it underlines the distinctive traits of this experience, the strength of which consists above all in the many elements of contrast within its cultural proposal. Moreover, the article aims to consider «Altri termini» within that dialectic between ‘myth of origins’ and ‘neurosis of the end’ that marks much of Italian poetry between the Eighties and Nineties.
