What is the point of talking about the ancient, relating to the ancient, at the end of the seventies, in a context like that of poetry written in Rome? The article investigates this theme by framing it in the life and experience of a yearbook-magazine such as «Prato pagano», active between 1979 and 1987 and the result of a collective and anonymous editorial work. The result is the image of a poetic group which aimed at recovering not nostalgically the instances of the ancient but rather at hoarding them in new forms, in fact opening a fourth way to experimentation in verses of that period, marked by political unrest, subjective focus, mannerisms.
