Sui rapporti genetici tra Roman de Horn, King Horn e Horn Childe

Resumen

Il Roman de Horn, King Horn e Horn Childe sono tre versioni del medesimo nucleo narrativo ed è ancora aperta la questione dei loro rapporti genealogici. L’inizio della storia d’amore fra l’eroe e la principessa mostra differenze significative, in particolare concernenti il comportamento degli attori. Tali alterazioni possono essere indicative di rapporti derivativi per il loro nesso con la struttura dell’intero episodio. Per indagarle, si adotta il quadro teorico dei recenti studi anglosassoni sull’emotività finzionale. Grazie ad esso, l’analisi comparativa svela una progressiva perdita nella complessità emotiva passando dalla versione anglonormanna alle due in inglese medio. Tale riduzione appare motivata dalla co-occorrente eliminazione di un sottotesto dell’episodio legato alla cultura e società cortese. Di conseguenza, il Roman de Horn risulta essere l’unica versione che conserva una ragione socioculturale strutturale per i comportamenti dispiegati. Pertanto, si definiscono dei chiari rapporti genetici tra le versioni, ponendo King Horn e Horn Childe in una posizione subalterna rispetto alla versione anglonormanna.
