Studies on the first edition of Cariteo’s Endimione have always considered it as a collection of poems based upon a small amount of themes continuously repeated, without internal articulations nor intertextual connections. This article aims at illustrating the macrotextual structures of the first Endimione edition by Cariteo: on one hand it highlights the intertextual strategies through which Cariteo tries to harmonize the different materials; on the other hand, it analyzes the literary allusions disseminated through the opening and closing poems, which reference texts in the same position from Petrarch’s Canzoniere as well as from some important Aragonese poetic collections.
